Jacklyn "Jackie" Waters
Algebra & Science Teacher
Having moved around a bit as a child, my family finally settled in Breckenridge, Colorado, where I consider myself having grown up. My love of the outdoors and adventure kept me in the mountains of Colorado ice climbing, hiking, and skiing. After graduating high school, I decided to head North and spent quite a bit of time in Alaska where I became a guide. It was through guiding that I realized I wanted to become a teacher. This pursuit brought me back to Colorado for my undergraduate degree. After graduating I taught in Summit County for a short time before moving to Denver, where I have been teaching ever since.
In recent years, I have obtained my Master’s, and married my best friend with whom we now have a spunky toddler named Lily. If Lily isn’t reading science books and practicing her colors, she is attempting to pet the dog “gently”. In her eyes, her and Blue are the best of friends. Blue is resigned to her show of affection, but rather would prefer long walks on the leash and chasing squirrels. As you can imagine, it’s a lively house, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to stay home last year with Lily, but I couldn’t be more excited to have joined ECA. I look forward to the challenge of cultivating college ready students as the lead teacher for the 6th Grade Academy. I’m passionate about teaching and sharing my love of learning!
