Kelly Hupfeld is Associate Dean for Outreach and Student Affairs at the School of Public Affairs, University of Colorado Denver. Prior to taking an administrative role at the School of Public Affairs, she served as a researcher for the school’s Center for Education Policy Analysis and taught in the school’s Master of Public Administration program. She has also worked in education policy for the Public Education and Business Coalition and as the owner of her own consulting firm, and was a senior policy analyst for the Bighorn Center for Public Policy. Kelly has a JD from the Northwestern University School of Law, and practiced labor and employment law in Chicago for a number of years before moving to Colorado in 1999. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Comparative Literature.
Kelly joined the board of the Early College of Arvada in 2016. She is passionate about the ability of high-quality education and relationships to close opportunity gaps and promote equity, and her own family’s experience with a caring charter school staff makes this a personal as well as professional fit.
Kelly is an Iowa native and has lived in Arvada for nearly 20 years. She loves to read and adores bookstores. Her son Matthew is 21 years old and her daughter Liane is 19, and the family also includes various canine and feline misfits.
