When you enter the downtown area, you notice a lot of people on the streets. They might be asking for money or just wanting a moment of silence. They have nowhere to go. The streets are their homes, and it is heartbreaking.
I have volunteered at many shelters just to see the smiling faces of people who have so little but appreciate so much more than we do. For two years, I have run a blanket drive here at ECA. I collect blankets and jackets for the homeless or those in need. What piqued my interest was the fact that in Colorado, homeless people were dying in their sleep from the excessive cold: a nightmare. I started the blanket drive to help those who need help but have nowhere to get it from.
